Many people moved into the cities in or der to bet for jobs in these new and exciting industries. In these cities they found jobs in the textile industry, railroad, and other commercial enterprises. With the on lay out of industrialization so came mechanization, which enabled worsened and worse work conditions. This era is captivated by long work hours with very low pay and scour worse working condition. Women began to get out of industries and became prostitutes or stand servants. There were many groups that organized like the Hijas de Anahuac that involveed a minimum wage to be established along with set working hours. Sexism was very drive home during this time and has always been a part of history and dormant continues to be. Many people subjected women to terrible jobs and thought of them as inferior to men. Some felt that a womans place was in the kitchen or signaling and all they were supposed to do was cook, clean, and raise the family.
